Last Updated: 1 year ago

The Faculty of Law (FH) of Djuanda University (UNIDA) held a Visiting Professor with the theme "Improving the Quality of Classroom Learning and Study Program Partnerships through Visiting Professor and Visiting Lecturer Programs" on Monday, November 28, 2022 in a hybrid manner, namely offline at the UNIDA FH Alumni Hall and online using the Zoom Meetings Cloud application. The Visiting Professor presented Prof. Dr. H. Edi Warman, S.H., M.Hum, Professor from the University of North Sumatra (USU) by lecturing on Legal Philosophy. The event was attended by UNIDA Chancellor, Dr. H. Martin Roestamy, S.H., M.H, Dean of UNIDA Faculty of Law, Dr. Nurwati, S.H., MH and staff as well as followed by UNIDA Faculty of Law students. The Visiting Professor activity is part of the Independent Campus Competition Program (PKKM) FH UNIDA in 2022. The Dean of FH UNIDA, Dr. Nurwati, S.H., M.H in her presentation at the interview session said that the Visiting Professor is carried out every semester in this case inviting professors who are outside the faculty or university in accordance with the field or course taught and at this Visiting Professor invited Prof. Dr. Hj Edi Warman, S.H., M.Hum from USU. It is hoped that this activity will increase the amount of learning in the classroom with expert lecturers and if FH UNIDA lecturers collaborate with professors who are experts in their fields, it will certainly increase student knowledge related to these subjects. "Hopefully in the future this Visiting Professor activity will become a routine agenda so that it can add value to accreditation so that it becomes superior accreditation," said Dr. Nurwati, S.H., M.H. Then the Vice Dean I of FH UNIDA as well as the Chairperson of the PKKM Task Force Team of FH UNIDA, Dr. Ani Yumarni, S.H.I., M.H in the interview session stated that the purpose of this Visiting Professor activity was included in the second year PKKM program which in this second year has 3 targets, namely improving the quality of students, the quality of lecturers and improving the quality of learning. This activity is included in the third target, namely improving the quality of learning. "This Visiting Professor is held 6 times face-to-face so that there is a lot of information and knowledge that can be explored by students so that in the future students have a broader perspective on the legal context, especially in the Legal Philosophy Law course and although it is carried out in a hybrid manner, namely offline and online, hopefully it does not reduce the essence of this visiting professor activity and students can deepen their knowledge of Legal Philosophy," said Dr. Ani Yumarni, S.H.I., M.H.. On the same occasion, USU Professor, Prof. Dr. H. Edi Warman, S.H., M.Hum in his presentation of material stated that every human being or baby born does not know anything and it is the parents who will make the baby good or bad, educated or not it is the responsibility of the parents, of course this is an important thing to note in legal philosophy, especially in criminology. Criminology comes from two syllables crime and logos which means the science of crime. If you tell about this crime, it will be very interesting to be associated with the law because studying the law is easy while enforcing the law is difficult, in other words, this crime prevention effort is the most difficult. "The material we learn at this meeting is the philosophy of criminology which consists of two variables. The first variable is philosophy which in terms of etymology comes from the Greek word Philosophia where Philo means love and Sophia means wisdom. Philosophia means love of wisdom. People who philosophize mean lovers of wisdom. Philosophy means thinking freely about the nature to the depths systematically and universally. As for criminology, it is a science that discusses crime as a social phenomenon. Criminology has more control over the phenomenal of crime and criminality and conducts scientifically accurate studies and develops theoretical explanations of crime and criminal behavior, "said Prof. Dr. H. Edi Warman, S.H., M.Hum. The activity continued with a discussion and question and answer session between the speakers and participants.
