Fakultas Hukum Universitas Djuanda Sukses Gelar Kompetisi Debat Nasional Unida Law Fair 2026

The Faculty of Law at Djuanda University, Bogor, successfully held a National Debate Competition with the theme "Creating a Visionary Young Generation Towards a Golden Indonesia Through Regulatory Innovation and the Integration of Local Values ​​into the National Legal System to Achieve Substantive Justice." The competition, held as part of the 2026 Unida Law Fair, began on Thursday, July 2, 2026. The Unida Law Fair (ULF) series of events began with a preliminary round on June 11, 2026, in which 30 debating teams from various private and state universities across Indonesia competed with each other in their ideas, concepts, thoughts, and arguments.

The final round featured four strong teams: Socrates, Sun Tzu, Nicolo Machiavelli, and Thomas Aquinas. These four finalists competed for the championship title, addressing topics on the law of exchange currently hotly debated on the national stage, including:

  1. Integrating regional languages ​​into the national education curriculum as an effort to preserve culture and strengthen national identity;
  2. Transparency of legal institutions as a key pillar in eradicating corruption and upholding justice;
  3. The controversy surrounding the implementation of the death penalty from the perspective of human rights and substantive justice;
  4. The implementation of the e-voting system in general elections as a step towards modernizing democracy.

After a rigorous assessment process in the semi-final and final rounds, the following is the list of winners of the 2026 UNIDA Law Fair National Debate Competition:

  • 1st Place: UIN Sunan Ampel Surabaya
  • 2nd Place: University of Indonesia
  • 3rd Place: Hasanuddin University
  • 4th Place (1st Runner-up): Riau Islamic University

The Dean of the Faculty of Law, Djuanda University, Dr. Nurwati, S.H., M.H., expressed her deepest appreciation to all participants, finalists, and the jury who came to make this event a success.

"This competition is not just a forum for argumentation, but a platform for the younger generation to demonstrate that they are critical, visionary, and virtuous agents of change. We hope that activities like this will continue and become a lasting academic tradition for the Faculty of Law, Djuanda University," said Dr. Nurwati, S.H., M.H.

The judges, consisting of renowned legal academics, legal practitioners, and communication experts, assessed that the quality of this year's debates had significantly improved compared to previous years. They emphasized that the finalists' courage in discussing sensitive yet fundamental issues demonstrated maturity of thought and a deep understanding of the law.

The culmination of the 2026 Unida Law Fair also featured cultural performances by students from the Faculty of Law, Djuanda University, and a panel discussion featuring speakers including Dr. Bambang Widjojanto, S.H., M.H., Prof. Dr. H. Martin Roestamy, S.H., M.H., and Dr. Aal Lukmanul Hakim, S.H., M.H. The entire series of activities ran smoothly, enthusiastically, and received a warm welcome from the entire Djuanda University academic community and invited guests.

With the conclusion of the National Debate Competition, the Djuanda University Faculty of Law is committed to continuing to produce a legal generation that is not only intellectually intelligent but also sensitive to the values ​​of social justice and local wisdom. Djuanda University hopes that the Unida Law Fair will become an annual event eagerly anticipated by legal and debate activists throughout Indonesia.
