Last Updated: 7 months ago

Bogor, December 11, 2025. The Faculty of Law (FH) of Djuanda University held a public lecture and practical lecture on the theme "Dynamics of Inheritance Dispute Resolution in Religious Courts" today. The event, held as an integral part of the Inheritance Law course, featured practitioner Drs. Juwaini, SH., MH., Chief Justice of the Bogor City Religious Court, who shared his practical experience directly from the courtroom.

The event, centered on the Faculty of Law Alumni, was attended in person by the Dean of the Faculty of Law and his Vice Deans. Also in attendance were lecturers teaching the Inheritance Law course and more than 50 Law students who enthusiastically participated in the event.

In his in-depth presentation, Drs. Juwaini, SH., MH., highlighted the gap between inheritance law theory learned in college and the complex realities faced in court. "Textbooks often explain inheritance law as rigid mathematical calculations. However, in the courtroom, we often encounter social factors, heated family emotions, incomplete documents, and demands for justice that do not always align with formal provisions," he told the participants.

The session also presented actual cases that frequently arise, such as disputes over the share of substitute heirs, the settlement of joint assets before the distribution of inheritance, and the position of illegitimate children in Islamic inheritance law (Compilation of Islamic Law). The presentation included examples of case files, posita (prosecutor's notes), and mediation strategies often used to resolve disputes amicably.

The Dean of the Faculty of Law, Dr. Nurwati, S.H., M.H., expressed her deepest appreciation in her remarks. This activity provided students with not only theoretical knowledge from lecturers but also hands-on experience from practitioners, relevant to real-world practice. "Collaboration between academics and practitioners is key to producing graduates who are ready to work in their chosen legal fields," he emphasized.

Meanwhile, Dr. Ani Yumarni, S.HI., M.H., the lecturer in charge of the Inheritance Law course, added that this public lecture provided the perfect bridge. "Students were able to directly see the application of the articles in the Compilation of Islamic Law (KHI) and the Civil Code (KUHPerdata) that we discussed in class. This greatly enhanced their contextual understanding. The question and answer session was very interactive and critical," she said.

The Q&A session was lively, with many students asking questions related to procedural procedures, the status of wills, and the ethics of judges in deciding complex inheritance cases. The event concluded with the presentation of souvenirs to the speakers by the Dean of the Faculty of Law and a group photo.

This activity demonstrated the commitment of the Faculty of Law, Djuanda University, Bogor, to providing a holistic, relevant, and problem-solving legal education in society. (FH2025)
