Bandung, August 28, 2025 — The Housing and Urban Development (HUD) Institute today held a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signing and talk show at El Hotel Bandung. The event was attended by the Minister of Housing and Settlements and the Deputy Chief of Staff of the President, demonstrating the government's strong commitment to addressing housing issues in Indonesia.
The event began with the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the HUD Institute and approximately 26 leading universities in Indonesia. This collaboration aims to strengthen collaboration within the Tridharma (Three Pillars) of Higher Education: education, research, and community service in the field of housing and urban development, particularly in the context of vertical housing.
Talk Show: Innovations and Solutions in Apartment Development
The talk show session took the theme "Accelerating the Development of High-Tech and Clean Apartments." The keynote speaker, Ir. Elvi Fadilah, outlined various innovations and challenges in the development of vertical housing.
In the third session, Dr. Dr. Rizal Syamsul Ma'arif, S.H., M.H., Vice Dean of Non-Academic Affairs at the Faculty of Law at Djuanda University (FH Unida), spoke as a speaker. He highlighted the importance of legality and ownership in apartment development.
"Our primary focus in apartment development must address the issue of ownership, namely strata title," said Dr. Rizal. "Utilizing State-Owned Land (BMN) or Regionally-Owned Land (BMD) for apartment development can be an innovative solution. However, its sustainability must be supported by a strong legal framework that guarantees ownership rights for residents."
This event is expected to provide momentum for all stakeholders, from the government, academics, and practitioners, to work together to accelerate the development of decent and sustainable apartment development throughout Indonesia.
